- Photo image of scanned scrapbook page: Officer John Suter and Chain Gang. The Chain Gang was a group of prisoners chained together and forced to do physically challenging work as punishment. Pabst's Orchestra (middle) performed in the Wilhelm Opera House at the corner of Fourth (4th) and Court Streets and also played music at many social events in Portsmouth. It was led and conducted by Anton Pabst and began in 1875. Portsmouth Steel Company (bottom) was the Steel Mill in New Boston. It was called the Portsmouth Steel company from 1902 to 1909.
