- Photo image of scanned scrapbook page. Pictured is a Confederate Ten Dollar Bill and a black and white photo of Honorable Henry A. Towne. Henry was born in New York in 1826. After attending Marietta College for law and graduating in 1845, Towne taught for several years. He was admitted to the bar in Cincinnati in 1849. Towne lived in Marietta after this. After a few law partnerships, his company relocated to Portsmouth in 1855. Following this move, Henry held many offices and even got elected to the position of Scioto County Auditor in 1871.
