It closed in 1975 and in 1976 the Scioto County Commissioners bought it. The Vern Riffe School is in the building now.

Construction began in 1899 and the first four-year high school students graduated in 1921. Notre Dame High School opened in 1953 and the St. Mary's building was razed soon after.

The left bridge carries Rhodes Avenue and the right bridge, somewhat hidden by trees, carries Gallia Street. 2-way traffic moved on both streets. These bridges were replaced in about 1960.
