Black & white photo of the Hotel Hurth on the corner of Chillicothe and Third (3rd) Streets. Built in 1923 by Adolph Hurth, it had 107 rooms with adjoining baths with hot and cold running water. It also had a barber shop, a pressing room and a restaurant. The building has been used as senior citizen apartments since 1982.
Tinted image of the Greenwood steamboat in the Ohio river. The Greenwood was built by Captain Greene at Parkersburg, WV and completed in Ironton. On her maiden trip in October, 1898, she left Portsmouth and sank at the mouth of the Scioto River when she hit a snag. She was raised and repaired and ran the Cincinnati-Pomeroy-Charleston trades. In 1925 she collided with the Chris Greene and sank.

Opened in 1899 as a men's clothing store Burt, Hall, & Co., it held various offices and organizations before 1922 when Lewis Furniture moved in. From about 2012 until 2016 the Elite Institute of Cosmetics was in the building. Shawnee State University acquired the building in 2017.
