Sepia toned image of the Mitchell Manufacturing Company at the southwest corner of Eighth (8th) and Adams Streets. In 1902 Charles Mitchell wanted to make vending machines to sell shoe laces for one nickel. Only later did the company produce their own laces to fill the vending machines. By 1909 they focused on supplying bulk laces to the local shoe factories.
